Breaking the Surface
This work explores the moment of deliberate descent,
when a free diver chooses to move beyond comfort and into depth, trusting breath, body, and instinct. The water darkens as she goes deeper, light thinning into fragments above her, while pressure gathers around her like a quiet, constant presence.
As a metaphor, Diving Deep reflects those human moments when we choose to extend ourselves into challenge, change, ambition, or growth. It speaks to the courage required to move beyond surface certainty and into unknown depths, where clarity is not immediate but earned.

The gallery is small, but it punches well above its weight. Friendly, expert and hugely knowledgeable about the artists it represents and displays, there is always something of interest, at different price levels.
The Artist
Heather Bailey
""Art has the power to transform the atmosphere of a place, turning even the darkest spaces into ones that breathe hope.""
Heather Bailey grew up in Zimbabwe and South Africa, where a “can-do” attitude was simply part of life. From a young age, she learned to sew, make, and bake just about anything. She went on to study fashion and art, but the journey to fully valuing her creativity - and calling herself an artist - has been hard-won, both mentally and socially. For Heather, being creative is not a pastime; it is essential to living.
