The Artist
Sharon Goodenough
Sharon Goodenough is a British contemporary artist whose atmospheric seascapes explore the relationship between nature, emotion, and the restorative power of open spaces. Working predominantly in oils, she is inspired by the ever-changing coastline of the U.K. and her travels, creating expressive paintings that evoke a sense of calm, freedom, and connection.
A distinctive feature of Sharon's practice is her layered painting process, Sharon begins each work by writing hidden words directly onto the canvas before building successive layers of paint. These concealed messages remain embedded within the finished artwork, becoming an integral part of each piece and reflecting the stories, emotions, and experiences that shape us.
After early careers in photography and special effects make-up artistry, Sharon returned to painting, bringing with her a lifelong passion for visual storytelling. She has since established herself as a contemporary artist, exhibiting across the UK and Europe, with work held in private collections both nationally and internationally. Sharon was also the selected artist in 2024 for the London launch of the new Mangusta Yacht.
Her work has been featured twice in Artist & Illustrator magazine, as well as House & Garden, CanvasRebel, Bold Journey, and Premier Magazine UK's Women to Watch. In 2026, she was selected for Art & Women Vol 3, a coffee table book celebrating 100 emerging female artists from around the world. Sharon is also a co-author of the #1 bestselling books Radical Self-Love and Radical Freedom.
