"I often revisit the same locations, as if reconnecting with an old friend. Each visit shows me something new about the landscape – whether it’s a change in the weather, foliage or seasons, or a change in myself that helps me see something new in that place. This is one of several large-scale paintings I’ve made of the Hundred River in Suffolk – a quiet, slow and unassuming stretch of water. It’s off the beaten track and not found by most walkers, but it’s gloriously peaceful when bathed in light, as it was when I visited towards the end of summer."
