Juli Fejer

‘Juli creates expressive landscapes using water-based paint on canvas, wood, paper and metal. Her work is based on moments of connection with place. Recently she has been reflecting on how grief changes the way she responds to familiar locations. Juli came to art as a pain management technique. The chronic condition fibromyalgia gives her an acute sensitivity to light and colour which informs her palette. The restorative power of time spent in woodlands is a recurring theme through her work. Juli’s paintings and her personal experience are testament to the possibility of reclaiming your life from trauma or disability Juli's painting is rooted in her journey from isolated invalid to gallery artist. For decades she was locked in chronic pain, worklessness, and despair. When, in her late fifties, she reconnected with a childhood love of the visual arts, it changed her life.

In 2021, one of Juli’s paintings was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and she took part in a BBC2 documentary about the exhibition. The self-taught artist has participated in numerous fairs and group exhibitions including with ArtCan and the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists.
