Haasts Bluff Bush Flowers
A sandstone dome with deep waterways and rockholes and desert oak country. Depicted in the foreground is kalingkalingpa, a type of honey grevillea. Also depicted are bush blackberries, bush sultanas, bush tomatoes, bush flour, bush grape and mingulpa, bush tobacco. There are kurrkarra, desert oak trees, quandong trees, a bottle tree, kulilpurra, christmas tree, gum trees and mulga trees.
Daisy Napaltjarri Jugadai was born in 1955 at Haast Bluff and died in 2008. Her
mother is Narputta Nangala and her father was Timmy Tjungurrayi Jugadai. Timmy’s
full brother, Daisy’s second father, is the Papunya Tula artist, Two Bob Tjungurrayi.
She is famous for the way she paints clouds. Her paintings are of a specific place
and show the trees, fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers that grown in that area.
Daisy’s paintings have been in exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne & Canberra.
