"Deep blues and vivid greens move through the surface in pools, blooms and drifting washes. A vertical current anchors the composition, while fragments gather and dissolve around it, suggesting water, foliage and shifting light without settling into a fixed landscape. The work captures a place as an atmosphere; fluid, immersive and held somewhere between observation and memory."

The gallery is small, but it punches well above its weight. Friendly, expert and hugely knowledgeable about the artists it represents and displays, there is always something of interest, at different price levels.
The Artist
Alice Ashley
Alice Ashley is a British artist and designer whose work explores colour, memory and the feeling of place. She studied Fine Art and History of Art at the University of Leeds, following a Foundation in Art and Design at Camberwell College of Arts, UAL.
Working between abstraction and landscape, Alice uses expressive mark-making, layered colour and movement to create atmospheric, instinctive paintings. Inspired by shifting light, hazy summers and fragments of memory, her work captures the feeling of a moment and the traces it leaves behind.
Alice lives and works in Wimbledon.
