Gregory was born in Alice Springs on 4 September 1966 and spent his youth in Yuendumu. He was married to Maureen Walker Nakamarra.
Gregory painted Minna Minna, his country. He also painted the story of women travelling the country with dancing sticks and where they set up camp.
