Description

Janelle was a young very talented Western Arrernte artist. She was already making a name for herself before she passed away in a car accident in 2009 at 33 years of age.

Janelle is the granddaughter of a founding member of the Papunya Tula movement, Billy Stockman Tjapaltjarri. She spent her life between Utopia, Hermannsburg and Papunya. She drew inspiration for her paintings from her traditional homeland at Hermannsburg and Papunya as well as Utopia. Her primary subjects were Country, Sand Dunes, Women’s business, Women’s Dancing and Colour.
