Aix

The figure on the right is an ex-boyfriend who lives in Aix. He once proposed to me years ago. I am on the left and also in my painting dungarees bottom right. The French Resistance had a strong base in Aix and the figure walking is Simone Segouin who (although not based on Aix) was a resistance fighter with the Francs-tireurs et Partisans Group. One of her first acts of resistance was stealing a bicycle from a German patrol which she then used to help carry messages.
