Syncopated Art I
‘So here, whilst not being vessels or fruit, the shapes are making a noise and want to be heard and seen. These paintings are a nod to the late artist Sonia Delaunay. I found her on a trail of investigation for Art Deco carpet ideas for the block of flats that I live in.‘
A definition of syncopated art:
“looks like a visual representation of jazz music or a breaking rhythm, characterized by unexpected, off-beat arrangements of colour, shape, and line that disrupt visual predictability. Instead of a smooth, uniform or symmetrical pattern, syncopated art feels energetic, jarring or “bouncy”, with elements that shift focus away from where the eye typically expects them to land.”
