Description

This boat was a familiar sight in Whitehaven harbour from 1927 to 1992. She was one of the last European coal-fired steam dredgers, which kept the harbour mouth clear for larger ships, until no longer needed in 1992.

Mark George

Mark is from Whitehaven in West Cumbria, where he recently moved back to after a few years working in Wiltshire. Having more time these days to draw and paint, he takes inspiration from the local scenery.

"We're on the Cumbrian coast and the westerly edge of the Lake District, so there's no shortage of subject matter."

He likes to vary his subjects and media, with his favourite "probably being pen and watercolour".
